Data Sources & Methodology
Transparency on where financial information comes from and how EnrichReturns calculates scores and estimates.
Last updated: 31 August 2026
1. Overview
EnrichReturns combines live or cached third-party feeds, curated catalogs, and mathematical formulas implemented in our application code. Where a page shows a “Data source” or “Last updated” notice, prefer that on-page label — it reflects what that tool fetched for the current request.
All figures are for education and planning. See our Disclaimer.
2. Market data
Stocks & indices (NIFTY / SENSEX watchlists)
Live quotes and delayed prices used on the Stock Analysis Hub are fetched from Yahoo Finance chart/meta endpoints (cached briefly; not stored in our database). Stock Health Score™, fair-value estimates and related analytics also use curated illustrative fundamentals for education — not a live company-filings feed. Always confirm with exchange or company disclosures.
Gold, silver & other metals
India retail / jewellery-oriented rates prefer IBJA, with fallbacks that can include Groww, Economic Times or Goodreturns depending on availability. City gold pages use the same national benchmark (Model A) — we do not invent local ₹/g premiums. Making charges and GST are excluded unless stated.
Currency / FX
Mid-market style rates are fetched from public FX APIs such as open.er-api.com and Frankfurter, with brief caching. Bank/card spreads for remittances usually differ from mid-market.
Agricultural commodities / mandi
The Commodities module covers Tier-1 agri commodities (cotton, tobacco, chilli, turmeric, cereals, oilseeds, pulses) with mandi min/modal/max structure. MVP data is a curated sample shaped like AGMARKNET/e-NAM observations — production requires verified official/licensed access. Gold, silver and platinum remain on the Metals Hub and are not duplicated there.
3. Interest rates & RBI
Bank savings, FD/RD and indicative loan rates on EnrichReturns are from a curated comparison dataset with per-bank effective dates and links to official bank pages. They are starting-slab style figures for comparison — not personalised sanction offers.
RBI policy / reference tools may use community or open RBI-oriented APIs (for example Indian Data Project and oriz-rbi-rates-api style sources) as labelled on those pages. Confirm policy rates on rbi.org.in.
4. Credit cards
Card fees, rewards, lounge notes and eligibility are from our curated product catalog with a per-card last-updated date. Match scores estimate annual reward value from your spending profile minus annual fee, with preference bonuses (fee, lounge, forex, reward type, category weights). Rankings are algorithmic estimates — not issuer offers. Verify every term on the issuer’s site. EnrichReturns is not the card issuer.
Details: Credit Cards hub (“How we evaluate cards”) · Affiliate Disclosure.
5. Fuel prices
City retail fuel prices are fetched from public price pages (labelled source includes MyPetrolPrice when available) and cached on a multi-hour window. Oil marketing companies can revise daily; confirm at your local pump.
6. Mutual funds
NAV and scheme metadata commonly use mfapi.in; holdings / overlap tools may use mfdata.in portfolio snapshots (periodic, not live). Overlap and duplication methodologies are shown in-tool when you expand “methodology”.
7. Calculators
SIP, EMI, FD/RD, PPF, NPS, tax, retirement, inflation, CAGR-style and related tools use standard financial mathematics (compounding, amortisation, tax-slab logic as coded for the Indian contexts we document on each page). Results are estimates based on your inputs and stated assumptions. Each major calculator page includes FAQs and educational sections that match the implemented logic — we do not change formulas for marketing.
8. Financial Health Score
Weights used in the current implementation:
- Cash Flow — 25
- Emergency Fund — 20
- Debt Health — 20
- Investments — 15
- Net Worth — 15
- Financial Resilience — 5
Scoring uses ratios such as savings rate, emergency-fund months of cash outflow, EMI-to-income, SIP and net worth vs income. Expand “How is my score calculated?” on the Health Score tool for the exact methodology lines from the code.
9. Stock analysis methodology
Stock Health Score™ (weights in current code): Profitability 20%, Growth 20%, Financial Strength 20%, Valuation 15%, Quality 10%, Momentum 10%, Shareholder Return 5% — using metrics such as ROE, ROCE, margins, CAGR, debt/equity, PE/PEG-style valuation inputs, holdings, DMA and dividends where available in the curated fundamentals set.
Quantitative signal bands (internal labels BUY / HOLD / SELL / WATCH) are derived from the overall score and valuation category thresholds in code. On the site they are presented as educational signals — not advice to buy, sell or hold.
Fair value uses a blended estimate: roughly 70% EPS × industry PE style fair PE plus 30% book value × a fixed multiple (2.5 in current code), then margin-of-safety / upside vs last price.
“Multibagger probability” score is a heuristic combining sales/profit CAGR, ROCE, market-cap bucket, leverage and promoter holding — not a prediction that a stock will multiply.
Fundamentals used in Health Score / screener-style views are curated illustrative figures for education — not a live filings feed. If we later switch to a live vendor, this section will be updated with the new source and refresh behaviour.
10. Demat broker scores
Broker comparison scores use editorial weights such as Pricing 25%, Platform 20%, Products 15%, Suitability 15%, Research 10%, Support 5%, Convenience 5%, Transparency 5% — estimates for comparison, not SEBI ratings. Fee tables show a verified-on date per broker where available.
