Understanding Gold Price in India

How Indian gold benchmarks relate to jewellery tickets, purity (24K vs 22K), making charges, GST, and city pages on EnrichReturns.

Gold prices you see online are rarely the same number printed on a jewellery invoice. EnrichReturns shows IBJA-linked national benchmark style rates for planning. Jewellers add making charges, wastage treatment, and taxes — and may quote different tickets by design and locality.

What our city gold pages show

City URLs (Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and others) use the same national benchmark under Model A until a verified city retail feed exists. We deliberately do not invent a local premium. That transparency matters more than a fake “city rate.”

Use the rate as a metal reference, then model making charges and GST in the Metals Hub jewellery tools, then confirm in-store with hallmarking.

24K vs 22K vs jewellery

24K is essentially pure gold (~99.9%). Most Indian jewellery is 22K (91.6% gold) or 18K. Investment-oriented coins/bars and jewellery serve different needs — jewellery carries craftsmanship cost that you may not recover fully on resale.

Why jeweller quotes differ

Making charges, design complexity, brand, wastage policies, and GST treatment drive the gap versus a metal-only benchmark. Always ask for a breakup: metal value, making, taxes, and purity on the invoice.

Limitations

Rates can move intraday. Displayed figures are educational and may refresh on a cache window when upstream sources respond. Not investment advice to buy or sell gold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do EnrichReturns city pages include making charges?
No. They are metal-only planning rates. Add making and GST in jewellery calculators or on the jeweller’s invoice.
Why is every city showing the same gold rate?
Because we use a national IBJA-linked benchmark for every city until we have a verified local retail feed. We would rather match cities than invent premiums.
